Benedict Chiu is a bay area native whose parents are originally from Taiwan. He started making short films while at USC and graduated with a joint degree in Business Administration and Cinematic Arts. He worked at the NBCUniversal Page Program, APA Agency, and Scott Free Television, before being selected for the Warner Bros. Television Writers' Workshop 2021 - 2022. He was most recently a staff writer on Season 3 of CALL ME KAT (FOX).
As a writer-director, Benedict’s coming-of-age comedy short film S.Q.A.G. (SHORT QUIET ASIAN GIRL) (2022) starring Tricia Fukuhara (Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies) and Kristian Ventura (School Spirits) premiered at the New York Asian Film Festival. He also wrote and directed SICK SUPERHERO (2017), which won the DJI Campus Stories Short Film Competition and DANCING SHOES (2018), which was featured on Comcast’s Xfinity Stream platform for their Asian American Film & TV Spotlight.
His latest short film, BOY BAND, a K-Pop horror film starring Jay Lee (CSI: Vegas, Looking for Alaska), is premiering at CAAMFest in May 2024.
